Letting Go of What Was
Hope in New Beginnings
Day 1
“But forget all that— it is nothing compared to what I am going to do.” Isaiah 43:18
The end of the year often brings reflection, and reflection can stir regret. We replay moments we wish had gone differently. We rehearse mistakes, broken relationships, and spiritual setbacks. God speaks gently but firmly into that cycle: “Forget all that.” Not because it didn’t matter—but because it no longer defines you.
Letting go is one of the hardest acts of faith. It means trusting that God can do more with what’s ahead than what you’ve already lived through. The past may explain you, but it does not imprison you. God’s work of renewal begins when we stop clinging to what He’s already redeemed.
Prayer for your day
Lord, I confess how often I carry yesterday into today. Help me release what no longer belongs to me. I trust You with my past and my future.
Put it in action
Write down one regret or memory you’ve been holding tightly. Pray over it, then physically tear up the paper as an act of surrender.
