Surrender is the Beginning
“So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor.” 1 Peter 5:6
The world teaches us that surrender means defeat. So often we think that to let go is to lose. God’s way is different. When we focus on Jesus we come to realize that surrender is the path to freedom. When we stop fighting for control and place our lives in His hands, we’re not giving up; we’re finally giving in to His grace.
Surrender is not the end of effort, but the redirection of it. It’s choosing to rest in the truth that God’s power is greater than our own. It’s trusting that His plan is better than anything we could force into being. In recovery and in life, surrender is the turning point. The moment we trade anxiety for peace, and self-reliance for divine strength.
Our weakness doesn’t disqualify us. The opposite is the case. It draws us closer to the One who can lift us up. God doesn’t need our perfection. He desires our dependence.
