Powerlessness isn’t Hopelessness.

“My grace is sufficient for you, my power is made perfect in weakness.”  2 Corinthians 12:9.

There comes a point in every journey towards sobriety and a life of recovery where we face the truth.  That truth is, on our own we do not have the strength to change.  We try, we work, we do the steps, we fall and we start again.  No matter what we try, it isn’t until we surrender when we see true transformation.

It is important to understand powerlessness is not a punishment.  The opposite is true; powerlessness is an invitation.  It is the moment we realize we cannot carry the weight alone and we desperately need God.  The burden of life was never meant to be carried solo.  When we let go of control, we make room for grace.  When we stop depending on our own strength, we discover Jesus’ power is made perfect in our weakness.

Our hope isn’t found in what we can do, but in what Jesus already has done.  He meets us where we are - weary, broken, and empty - and fills us with a peace that surpasses understanding.
