New Mercies, New Mind
The Slow Work of Grace
Day 1
“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—His good, pleasing and perfect will.”
— Romans 12:2
Renewal always begins quietly. Sometimes I notice it first in the way I start to think differently — not perfectly, just gently. Where I once reacted with fear or anger, I now pause, breathe, and remember that I am loved.
In recovery, and in the families who walk this road together, the mind can feel like a battlefield. Old patterns, false beliefs, and painful memories try to convince us nothing will change. But God is not asking us to fix our minds; He is inviting us to let Him renew them.
Every day, His mercies are new — and with each mercy comes a new thought: I am not who I was yesterday. I am being transformed.
Renewal isn’t an overnight miracle; it’s a slow reordering of what is possible through Jesus. And little by little, God reshapes our inner world so that peace replaces panic, and truth replaces fear.
Prayer for your day.
Lord, renew my mind today. Where I’ve believed lies about myself or the people I love, speak Your truth instead. Help me to see myself — and others — the way You do. Let Your mercy become the pattern of my thoughts. Amen.
