You Are Not Your Urges
Hope in Temptation
Day 2
“It is for freedom that Christ has set us free…” Galatians 5:1
Temptation tries to convince you that your urges define you. The enemy whispers: “This is who you are. You can’t escape it.” But Christ speaks a better truth. He has already given you freedom, not as a distant ideal but as a present identity.
You are not your cravings. You are not your impulses. You are not your past behaviors. You belong to the One who sets captives free.
Your identity in Christ gives you the authority to say “no”—even when your body and emotions say “yes.”
What urge or craving most often tries to rename you? What truth does God speak over that identity? Focus on what God is saying. That is who you are!
A prayer for your day.
Father God, Temptation tries to name me, but You have already spoken my true identity. Help me remember who I am in Christ when urges feel overwhelming. Replace lies with truth and fear with freedom. Teach my heart to rest in who You say I am.
Put it in action.
Write this somewhere visible today:
“I am free in Christ. My urges do not define me.”

Your urges don’t define you—Jesus does.
