When the Road Feels Long
Strength for the Journey
Day 1
“But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength.
They will soar high on wings like eagles.
They will run and not grow weary.
They will walk and not faint.”
— Isaiah 40:31
There are seasons in recovery — and in life — where everything in me wants strength right now. I want God to lift me up, carry me, and make the hard parts disappear. But most days aren’t about soaring. Most days are about walking.
Walking is slow. Walking is ordinary. Walking is steady. The ancient voice of Isaiah reminds me that walking—and not fainting—is a miracle of grace.
Some days, the real victory is simply showing up. Getting out of bed. Attending the meeting. Making the call. Holding the boundary. Choosing honesty. One faithful step, even when I feel stretched thin.
I’m learning that God meets me in the walking. Not just in the breakthroughs, but in the daily moments where I feel tired but still choose hope. And for the families walking beside someone they love, the same promise holds: God renews your strength too. You are not carrying this alone.
Today, I’m reminded that perseverance isn’t about being strong — it’s about being held. Its about showing up, because God is with you.
Prayer for your day.
Lord, give me strength for this step, and the next one.
Teach me to trust You in the slow, steady places.
Renew my hope as I walk with You today. Amen.
Put it in action.
Take a “strength inventory.”
Pause for 60 seconds and ask:
Where did I see God strengthening me today?
Where did I choose to keep going, even when I didn’t feel like it?
Write down one place where God met you in the walking.
