The Power of Small Wins
Strength for the Journey
Day 3
“Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin…”
— Zechariah 4:10
We often celebrate the big milestones in recovery — breakthroughs, anniversaries, the days that feel like turning points. But God celebrates the small ones, too. The quiet wins. The unseen choices. The moments when nobody is watching except Him.
Sometimes the most powerful thing I can do is take a small step in the right direction.
A small choice toward honesty.
A small act of self-control.
A small moment of courage.
A small boundary kept.
A small kindness shown.
These don’t always feel impressive, but heaven notices. God rejoices when we begin — and He rejoices when we begin again.
For families walking beside someone they love, the same truth applies. Every gentle response, every prayer whispered, every boundary honored — these small, faithful acts matter. They shape the journey one moment at a time.
Recovery isn’t built in dramatic leaps. It’s built in small wins, repeated over and over, until they become strength.
Prayer for your day.
Lord, help me value the small wins You celebrate.
Give me eyes to see progress where I usually see pressure.
Strengthen me through the quiet, steady steps. Amen.
Put it in action.
Name one small win from the past 24 hours.
Write it down or speak it aloud.
Thank God for it — not because it was big, but because it was faithful.
