“Music is an outburst of the soul.”
~ Frederick Deluis
"Sir" Thomas Dow, III
Vocals, Guitar

I have been messing around on the guitar since I was 16. I started writing songs when I was 18. For me singing and playing songs with people I love is heaven. If I can bring a smile to someone's face, or help them let go of a tough day, I feel alive. I believe music to be one of the most powerful forces in life. I also believe being a musician comes with the responsibility of using this great energy wisely.

Some of my idols for global change through music are John Lennon and Michael Franti. Some of my idols for just a ripping good time are Stevie Ray Vaughn, Buddy Guy and BB King.

Flowers From Ashes brings real life to the stage; our music is not separate from the joys and challenges of our lives, it is very real time and very uplifting. Come check us out!
Mike "The Metronome" Waldhoff
Drum Kit, Vocals

Mike was inspired early on by the music of the Beach Boys and the British Invasion and decided to join band in school to learn to play drums. “I like pretty much any kind of music but really love great Pop music no matter what genre.” After playing in rock bands in high school, Mike left his native Minnesota and moved to Colorado. He has played in a diverse array of groups from the folk rock of Heartwings and the Unity Project to musical theater to the alternative Pop/Rock of the Fractals. For the last few years he has been playing with the Rock and R&B band So White and the PrimaDonnas. Mike’s creativity behind the drums is a great asset when it comes to original music.

“Flowers From Ashes represents for me the magic in playing music with a group of talented people who can use the diversity of their styles to create something totally new and original and every performance is a new level of experience. It’s truly a joy to be a part of a group that can do that.”

The Gifted Jessica DiGiacinto
Vocals

I've been singing and loving music ever since I can remember. I started off in musical theater and continued in that genre through college, taking vocal training on and off for eight years. In college I discovered acapella, and sang with an all female pop acapella group until I graduated. While living in New York City and pursuing an MFA in playwriting, I sang with The Custom Kitchens, a funk/rock party band that did it's best to get too-cool East Villagers to dance.

Flowers From Ashes is a great way to keep the joy of music alive for me every day, and the opportunity to play with such conscious and loving people is a blessing. It's always an honor to play for audiences, and I know we all hope we can get you to dance and smile.
Tom "Big Daddy" Margolis
Vocals, Guitar

When I was 7 years old I cheated at piano lessons by playing songs by ear while pretending to read the musical notation. I’ve been cheating at music ever since. I cheat at guitar, harmonica, singing, song-writing, a bit of piano, and occasional whistling. During my long trek through college and graduate school, I played in several bands and worked as a freelance studio engineer in Boston and Chapel Hill. I believe in peace, justice, and using a separate mic on the snare drum.

James PM Coleman
Bass Guitar

From the day I herd my first Beatles song (hears comes the sun, sung as a lullaby by my father) music has guided and defined my soul. I have been in nearly as many bands in Boulder as I have years under my belt. My style experience ranges from hip-hop to Indy rock. I would like to think that I will add a little bit more of a rock and roll bottom to Flowers from Ashes but really I’m hear to learn and have fun doing what I love best and that is playing music! My inspiration comes from contemporary bands such as Wilco, The Strokes, Andrew Bird and Yeasayer!!! to name a few.

Flowers from Ashes has given me a chance to get back to what I was missing, playing with others who are passionate about music.
